At £3.25 per portion it undercuts much of the competition, and free UK delivery sweetens the maths further — a genuine plus when many rivals tack on a courier fee. Each box arrives with pre-portioned ingredients and a recipe card, so you're cooking from scratch rather than reheating, with meals averaging around 600 kcal and 30g of protein. That balance makes it a sensible everyday choice for households who want to eat properly without overthinking the weekly shop. Diet-wise there's reasonable flexibility, with high-protein, vegan and vegetarian options on the menu, though you'll want to scan the weekly line-up to be sure the choices suit. The format runs on a subscription, which is standard for the category but worth flagging: you'll need to manage or skip weeks to avoid boxes you don't want. The other caveat is effort — these are kits, not ready meals, so factor in chopping, prep and washing up. If you enjoy cooking and want variety, that's part of the appeal; if you're time-poor or after grab-and-go, it's less ideal. Overall, Gousto is a strong all-rounder: good value, broad menu, free delivery and decent macros, let down only by the inevitable subscription admin and the time cooking demands.
