Privacy policy

This notice explains how PrepCompare handles personal data, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. PrepCompare is operated as a sole trader in the united kingdom and is the data controller. You can reach us at hello@prepcompare.uk (our postal address is available on request).

What we collect

• Meal Matcher input — the free-text you type describing your goals, diet and budget. This is sent to our AI provider to interpret your request and is not stored by us afterwards or linked to your identity.
• IP address & basic request data — processed briefly to rate-limit the Meal Matcher and protect the site from abuse. Outbound click-outs to providers are logged with a one-way hashed (non-reversible) form of your IP and browser string, so we can count clicks without identifying you.
• Contact details — only if you choose to email us. We have no user accounts and do not run a newsletter.

Who we share it with (processors)

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the site:

• Anthropic — powers the Meal Matcher. Your typed request is sent to Anthropic's API, which is operated in the United States. This is an international transfer; it is made under the safeguards Anthropic offers for UK/EU data (standard contractual clauses / IDTA). Anthropic does not train its models on this input.
• Supabase — our database, hosted in the EU (Ireland).
• Vercel — website hosting and content delivery.

We do not sell your personal data or use it for third-party advertising.

Please don't enter sensitive data

The Meal Matcher is a convenience tool. Please do not enter health, medical, or other special-category information, or anything that identifies you — a general description of your goals and budget is all it needs.

Legal basis

We rely on legitimate interests to operate, secure and improve the service (including rate-limiting and click analytics), and on consent for the Meal Matcher request you choose to submit and for any non-essential cookies (see our cookie policy).

Retention

Matcher input is processed in the moment and not retained. Rate-limit data is held in memory only and clears regularly. Hashed click records are kept in aggregate for analytics. Emails you send are kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict use of your data, and to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. To exercise these rights, contact hello@prepcompare.uk.
